My Favorite Faith-Based Books for Little Ones and Families

My kids love a good story. Fairy tales and heroic characters, animals that talk, friendships, and mysteries. The great news is, all of those can also be found in the Bible too! Engaging my kids in biblically inspired books and Bible Stories is something in our home that we strive towards daily together. This list compiles a lot of our favorite books and some that I am excited to add to our library soon as well!

These are a fun spin on how God, science and creation all work together. In each devotional there is a Biblical element as well a lesson in something new about the world around us. This is a fun one for your little ones who are curious about the world and love science!

The Biggest Storybook Bible: This is a Bible that I have gifted to a lot of people. It is illustrated in a fun and unique way but is full of all of the amazing classic Bible Stories that are foundational for a young believer's walk.

The Jesus Storybook Bible: We have probably gone through this Bible at least 10 times front to back in our home. This is the one that we grab each night to read together as a family. One thing that I love is that the stories are long enough to have details and depth but not so long that you lose your little one's interest. Each page has images for them to look at as you read. Another really unique aspect to this Storybook Bible is that every story points back to Jesus at the end. My kids have just about memorized the phrase they hear at the end of every story each night.

The Explorer Bible: This is a new addition to our library as of this Christmas. We gifted this to Jude as his first big boy Bible. This is a traditional Bible (so not a storybook Bible). But it is great for a beginner. There are lots of colorful graphics and charts and informative snippets throughout the pages. We have gravitated towards picking this one up more in the evenings now to work through some stories the kid’s haven’t heard before.

Storybooks

All of the books in the Tales that Tell the Truth Series- our absolute favorites! So intentionally written and illustrated and easy for kids to follow. They also have coloring books that you can purchase for each of their books which make fun gifts!

This I Know- Seeing God in the world He made (a spin off of the song Jesus Loves me)

The Biggest Best Light- Shining God’s love into the world around you

The True King- There are lots of books that tell stories about kings and kingdoms, princes and princesses... There is only one book, however, about a King and a kingdom that is the truest story ever told

I See Jesus- This one is really cool how it reflects Jesus throughout stories in the Old Testament The Story of Water- How God was at work in all the Bible's watery tales

Noah's Ark- This one is beautifully illustrated!

The Biggest Story- A beautiful illustrated book that walks through the overarching story of the Bible

Twirl- I haven’t read this one but I hear it is a fun one for little girls!

Who Sang the First Song and Don’t Forget to Remember- I love Ellie Holcomb and these books are just a fun extension of her writing style

Praise Him- All about how to praise God throughout your day

Interactive Books Noah’s Ark Hidden Picture Storybook Seek and Find Old and New Testament Bible Stories- These combine a Bible story with a hidden picture page. My son Knox loves these!

Read it, See it, Say it, Sing It- This is a favorite of mine. It gets Bible memorization on the forefront of your mind as you work through the fun lyrics in this book together

Early Readers Let there be light- An opposites primer Psalms of Praise- A movement primer First Bible Basics- A counting primer

The Biggest Story ABC- This walks through the alphabet and the story of the Bible in a fun way

God, Jesus, and the Gospel- Big theology for little hearts primers

Whether your kids are big readers or not, having an arsenal of faith-based books in your home is great when sitting down together as a family and diving into truth in a way your kids can digest. The way that my kids can re-tell Bible stories with accuracy at such a young age I attribute a lot to our prioritization reading Bible stories together each night as a family.
