How Many Wedding Invitations do you REALLY Need? Are your Forgetting this One?

It has been said that the only difference between an empty room and a party is an invitation.

Your wedding invitations are the statement that sets the tone for your big day. Incorporating themes or colors or textures is a fun way to get creative and show your personalities to your guests, but it is hard to know exactly how many invitations you need after your guest list is made. Below is my advice to brides about how many invitations you REALLY need to order, and the one important area you are likely forgetting!

  • 1 Invitation per household (single roommates living together should get their own invitation)

  • 2-3 For Keepsakes

  • 5-10 Extra Invitations (in case you extend your guest list or one gets lost in the mail)

  • 20% extra Outer Envelopes (ex. If ordering 100 invitations, add 20 envelopes in case of addressing mess ups) Last but not least…

  • 1-2 for your photographer. Have you ordered an invitation to set aside for your photographer for the wedding day? I absolutely love capturing the details of wedding invitations in wedding photos and video. So much time and attention goes into the invitations! From font choices and verbiage, to colors and textures, you want to make sure you have documentation of the final product and all the decisions you had to make to create the perfect one.

Some of my FAVORITE wedding stationery designers for you to check out!

  2. Cami Monet Miller- I follow Cami on Instagram and fall in love every time I see one of her watercolor invitations. Cami’s art is breathtaking! If you are looking for a custom watercolor map, crest, or portrait of your pet Cami is your gal! CamiMonet.com

  3. Elisa Anne Calligraphy- Elisabeth’s elegant invitations are perfect for the bride and groom who want a classy statement invitation. Her calligraphy addressed envelopes are to die for and her attention to detail and artwork is incredible. She recently did a custom laser cut gold gate over a suite that had me dreaming of all the things I wish I had done as a bride! ElisaAnneCalligraphy.com
