10 Questions to ask a Potential Newborn Photographer
Choosing the right photographer for your baby’s first photos is a big deal. There are a lot of photographers out there who serve families in a variety of different ways, but how exactly do you narrow down the search to finding the ONE?
Start by looking for a newborn photographer whose work you absolutely love. If you cannot picture yourself in their images, then it is likely not a good fit. Is their style consistent? That’s also a big factor! After finding someone whose work you love, reach out to inquire about their availability and ask any questions you have regarding their services. Not sure what to ask? Here are 10 questions you might want to ask any newborn photographer you are considering:
What is your experience with newborn photography?
How do you ensure baby safety during the session?
How do you handle scheduling around due dates? What if my baby arrives early and needs NICU time, or arrives later than expected?
Who is allowed in the photos during my session?
Do you have wardrobe options for the family, or can you assist me in choosing the right things to wear?
Do you have a studio or a particular place you like to have sessions? Do you offer in-home sessions?
Are digital images included in the session, or is their an additional investment following the session for deliverables?
How long is the turnaround time for images to be delivered?
How do you handle older siblings in sessions? What about toddlers?
Do you offer a baby plan for multiple sessions during my baby’s first year?
Don’t be afraid to bombard your potential photographer with questions. I gladly welcome all the questions from my clients- it can only help when it comes to feeling prepared and connected for your session. If you are afraid of a back-and-forth, it is always a great option to write down all your questions and schedule a call with your photographer to go over any details and questions you may have.
